New Programming Options at Bark Lake!

Bark Lake is very excited to announce a couple new programs we will be rolling out starting this Spring. A lot of work has gone into researching and building the infrastructure to support these programs and, with Spring finally starting to show it’s face here at Bark Lake, Today seems like the perfect day to make these announcements.

  1. On April 23rd we will be beginning construction on our Medium Ropes Course. Even though High Ropes continues to be one of our safest activities, more and more school boards are restricting their students’ participation. Our new Medium Ropes Course packs all the fun of wearing a harness and helmet but will keeps you no more than a foot and a half off the ground.
  2. As soon as the roads are clear we will begin an ambitious project to resurface the Aspen loop in order to pave the way (pun intended) for a Go-Kart Track. Bark Lake is committed to providing exciting, adventure-based leadership programming through creative means. Go-Karting is an exciting program that will challenge students to develop an understanding of fair play and work on building confidence with an emphasis on what it means to lead and follow your fellow racers.
  3. Our third announcement (and Joe is most excited about this one) is that we’ve managed to procure a small collection of slow-moving zombies which will be kept safely in ‘the Hilton’ staff accommodations for use in a Zombie Apocolypse simulation. This immersive program follows training in acitivites including survival skills (including Fire and Shelter building) and archery before letting the horde of flesh-eaters loose on participants. We are very excited to be the first Adventure Education Centre in the Haliburton Highlands (3rd in all of Ontario) to obtain a herd of Zombies.

This certainly promises to be an exciting Spring at Bark Lake. If you are interested in any of these new programs, please contact Dylan, our Guest Services Coordinator (guestservices@barklake.com) about building a program to meet your group’s specific needs.

And be sure to stay tuned for more announcements from Bark Lake this season. Afterall, Spring’s only just sprung – it’s only just the 1st of April.
